Getting lost in Venice: Travel Photo Diary

What a hectic week it was! Last week I took some time off blogging and focused on completing some important work and university related things that simply could not be postponed anymore. Luckily for me it was only a week that was necessary to tick off those errands and now I am back to my normal schedule – new post every Wednesday and Sunday at 7pm.

The weather over the past few days has been quite unpredictable – chilly early mornings and hot afternoons that most of the times were actually accompanied by heavy thunderstorms. This has made me think about the hot summer day that we spent in Venice last month which ended in one of the heaviest thunderstorms I have experienced in my life.

More than six million people visit Venice every year and discover what a little gem it is. This was my second time visiting the city but it never ceases to amaze me how you can rediscover it every time you are there. The picturesque romantic atmosphere is a perfect match for a romantic gateway with your beloved one (however, you should  probably avoid the high season as the thousands of tourists can make the experience less romantic). This time my trip to Venice was not a family trip but rather a romantic one as I was with my boyfriend. This made me look at the city from a different angle and appreciate it completely. The best part, and probably my most valuable tip that I can give to anyone who plans to visit this Italian city, is never to be afraid of getting lost! Yes, it can be quite difficult to find your way among the numerous little canals and streets (which most of the times don’t even have names so you won’t find them in your Google maps) but I can assure you that the most beautiful places are actually hidden and you will find them by chance. So, don’t worry if you are not swallowed up by the crowds after you took that right turn five minutes ago. You will appreciate the true beauty of Venice when you are ready not to follow the well-beaten path and even get lost a little bit.

I would like to share with you my travel photo diary from the day we spent in Venice last month.
